Tixel ®

TIxel ® is a non-ablative and ablative fractional skin rejuvenation system that uses pure thermal heat to vaporise skin tissue, allowing new and improved skin to take its place.

Tixel ® uses controlled pure heat energy to encourage the skin to renew itself. The length of exposure will vary depending on your treatment plan. Tixel is a customisable treatment with three unique applications, allowing us to tailor the treatment to your skin’s needs, it can operate in three modes – ablative, non-ablative, and open channel.

What is the benefit of Tixel®?

Compared with lasers, Tixel® is safe with:

Less charring and crusting,

Less pain,

Less downtime and post-care (0-2 days)

No radiation, just pure natural heat

What can Tixel® treat?

+Facial lines and wrinkles

+Loose skin above and beneath the eyes (Non-surgical Blepharoplasty)

+Loose skin to the neck, hands, arms or décolleté

+Acne Scarring

+Stretch Marks

+Age Spots Sun Damaged/Aged Skin

+Skin Discolouration

+Skin tone, quality and texture

How does Tixel ® improve the skin?

Skin tightening:

Tixel tightens the skin (upper dermis- dermis) and improves fine lines, wrinkles, sagging and dilated pores as well as acne scars.

Skin resurfacing:

Tixel regenerates the skin (epidermis) and produces an even skin tone, reducing pigmentation and other blemishes to produce a glow. Active acne responds very well to Tixel as well.

Drug delivery:

Tixel is used to create tiny pores in the skin to allow the penetration of medications through the skin. Medications may include those that reduce pigmentation, increase collagen production and relax

How effective is Tixel ®?

Tixel is FDA approved. The results from Tixel are excellent in the right individuals and comparable or superior to those from other resurfacing techniques such as fractional CO2 laser (such as Fraxel). The distinct benefit is that the treatment is much less painful and the recovery period is much shorter.

A detailed scientific study demonstrated that Tixel provides excellent results with low pain, low downtime and quick healing. This can be reviewed here.

Which treatment is better Tixel ® or C02 Laser?

The first is that Tixel is much less charring (“carbonisation”) than CO2 laser. This means the body does not need to take time to clear away charred tissue.

The second is because of the shape of the Tixel probes. These are pyramidal and they leave a triangular or V-shaped effect. The laser is a solid beam and leaves a U shaped effect. The time it takes for the body to recover, i.e. ‘to fill in the V is much shorter than it is ‘to fill in the U’

What are the side effects and downtime of Tixel ®?

You are likely to feel a sunburn type sensation of heat with mild swelling for 24-72 hours post-treatment. A pinkness may occur with grey/brown micro-crust for 1-2 weeks.

In terms of non-ablative Tixel, the downtime is very little. Makeup can be applied after 4 hours. Our patients may go back to work or to a social event straight away or within a few hours. There will be some mild redness straight after treatment which clears within a few hours. Swelling is also minimal.

Regarding ablative Tixel, the downtime is between 2 to 4 days. Makeup can be applied after 1 day. There will be redness for a week or for up to 6 weeks (this is usually mild and can be covered with a tinted moisturiser) and swelling that takes 1 to 3 days to clear.

 Does Tixel ® cause pain?

The treatment is painless. During Tixel treatment the patient may feel some heat, similar to a sunburn. There may be discomfort. Although it is not necessary for some people local anaesthetic cream may be applied to areas being treated, prior to Tixel treatment.

Treatment price per session?
